Guest guest
From today's Chronicle, page A10: LORDS VOTE FOR LIMITS ON HUNTING WITH HOUNDS London - The House of Lords voted yesterday for restrictions on hunting with hounds after the House of Commons voted to ban it outright - leaving the government to find a compromise. Neither the Lords' vote nor that of the Commons on Monday is binding, as Prime Minister Tony Blair's government said it wants to assess the opinions of lawmakers before deciding what to do. Commons voted 386 to 175 late Monday for the outright ban. The House of Lords, which previously had opposed any change to the hunt, voted 366 to 59 yesterday in favor of the so-called middle way, which would see the hunting of foxes, stags, and hares continue with restrictions.
