Guest guest
Hi all, I found the discussion on NY restaurants to be very interesting! This actually ties in with an idea for a project that we've been interested in doing for awhile... There are several websites that list restaurants, sometimes with comments from individuals; many of these are homegrown, individual projects or sometimes they are very professional, like vegdining.com But how do these restaurants compare against each other? If you had $30, craving for vegetable curry, and one nite in town, where should you go? If you wanted to try the best sushi in the Bay Area, where would that be? The movie industry has the Oscars... let's have " The Veggies " ! Categories could be broad ones: best overall vegan restaurant, best overall vegetarian restaurant, best veg-friendly restaurant.. they could be more specific - best service, best presentation, best Indian curry, best Chinese curry (we like curry in my house!), best pizza, best soup, best dessert, best meal for $10. They could also just be fun categories, like hardest restaurant name to pronounce, best decorations... It's just up to our imagination! Once we've defined the categories, then we'll put the survey out for vote, tally the results (no chads please), have an awards celebration to announce the year's winners, and provide the winners with an award suitable for presentation, like a certificate. Once a project like this is defined, it becomes very easy to repeat it and make it an annual event. We've been thinking of this for a couple of years, and with the Oscars happening, seemed like a great time to discuss this.... It'd be great to get your input on categories... I have a lot of ideas, but this would be more fun and interesting to do with community input. Plus this concept will ONLY work if people like the idea and would participate. Looking forward to your feedback... Oh, and we can also discuss this at the half-year birthday party on 4/6 @ Golden Gate Park! Cheers, Tammy & Chris " Perform a death-defying act.... Go Vegan!
