Guest guest
Dear Friends, Regarding the upcoming vegan potluck at my home this Saturday evening, featuring the tremendous trio - Matt Ball, Jack Norris & lauren Ornelas of Vegan Outreach, Vegan Outreach, and Viva! USA - a dear friend called my attention to the fact that some people may think that the event is a fundraiser. To clarify, we're hoping to raise awareness, raise consciousness, raise spirits, and raise the bar on excellence, but no, we will not be raising funds. We do ask that in the spirit of community, you bring a vegan dish to share. If you will have difficulty cooking, you can always bring a beverage (alcoholic or non), some bread and hummus, a bag of baby carrots, anything. Since I'll be hosting, and since cooking is my meditation, I'll be making a few dishes: my award-winning pate (which has become a bit of a staple), a Thai curry - based on a recipe by award-winning chef, Ken Bergeron, that I saw in the recent issue of Veg News, and the Millennium chocolate midnight, made as a pie. Again, the awareness/consciousness/spirits-raising potluck & talks will be happening at my home, which is at 1275 Geneva Avenue in the Excelsior district of San Francisco, just down the street from the beautiful and historic Cow Palace. Hope to see many of you there. Cheers, Alka P.S. -- It's not necessary, but it's very helpful if people bring their own dishes and cutlery. Thanks!
