Dear Friends,

As you know, the Food & Social Justice Project has been conducting weekly

leafleting demos outside of the Safeway store at Market & Church in the

Castro district of SF every Sunday from 4 pm - 6 pm, in support of PETA's

Shameway campaign (check out: http://www.shameway.com). We have a gorgeous

banner that we display at the corner of Church & Market where the Safeway

store is located. As there tends to be a lot of pedestrian and vehicular

traffic in that neighborhood, people get the message that Safeway supports

animal cruelty.

Our friends at PETA have expressed interest in having a few photographs of

our Church & Market presence, for the pages of their Animal Times magazine

that goes out to their 750,000 members. This is your chance for fame

(infamy?) and fortune (of the karmic variety). We'll be taking photographs

this Sunday at the protest, so come in your Sunday best and be ready to say,

" Soy Cheese! "

Hope to see you there!

Best,

Alka

P.S. -- The Food & Social Justice Project recently purchased a 13 " Panasonic

TV/VCR combo, and we are excitedly waiting the arrival of our Honda

gas-powered generator. The unit will likely make its debut at an upcoming

Safeway protest (not this Sunday's, unfortunately as we will not have the

generator at that point), and will continue to be used at multiple tabling

events. We are also very close to having the specs laid out for a faunette

(a tv/vcr combo contained in a 6' cabinet; portable on wheels and relatively

easy to take to street corners for playing pretty videos like " Meet your

Meat " ). Stay tuned for more details!
