Guest guest
Hi everyone! We posted last month about planning a camping trip to Butano State Park in Pescadero. Pescadero is roughly mid-way between Half Moon Bay and Santa Cruz. Several folks wrote expressing their interest. As promised, a few of us did an exploratory hike on Saturday. Butano State Park in Pescadero is beautiful -- very lush, beautiful redwoods, nice trails (well-maintained, wide, soft with redwood needles) and peaceful. The campsites are also very nice and include running water facilities. Very accessible to those of us who are occasional outdoor enthusiasts or new to the outdoors. We have two campsites reserved for Saturday, June 22nd (if the night is clear, it is just a few days before a full moon). We anticipate that we can accomodate 12 people depending upon how the tent situation works (i.e. if people are sharing or if need individual accomodations, or perhaps no tent at all). There is a limit as to how many tents can fit in each campsite, and how many cars we are allowed before paying an additional fee. If you are interested in attending, or can definitely attend, we need to know the following: - how many people - do you have a tent that you can share or would you be willing to share a tent with someone else - can you play the guitar or other musical instrument suitable for camping We're thinking that since it's a local trip and only overnight, theoretically we don't even have to " rough it " and cook over a campfire; we can just bring a cooler with food and have a vegan potluck. Although, fire-roasted veggie dogs are yummy, and there's always a chance it can be foggy in the summer so hot food for dinner might be nice. So far, the only cost is for the campsites -- $12 each, or $24; we will just split that amongst how many of us go (so for 12 people, that'd be $2 each). Folks are also welcome to come just for lunch/hiking on Saturday day (no cost). So, since we have only a limited amount of space, we need to get a headcount of exactly who wants to come, your tent situation, etc. Once we get a firm count, we will be asking you to pay to hold your spot on the trip. Once we have the list of campers finalized, we can coordinate food :-) and other details. So please write Tammy privately at meowthunk if you're interested in attending. Note: While the food for this event is vegan, the event itself is open to folks of all dietary preferences (vegan, pre-vegan, etc). A camping trip, the weekend before a full moon, in a beautiful redwood forest on the California coast, seems like the perfect way to celebrate the Summer Solstice and connect with new & old veggie friends.
