223 Dwinelle

UC Berkeley

This slideshow, covering the history of patriarchal attitudes towards

women and nonhuman animals, will be presented by writer/activist

Marti Kheel, Ph.D, of Feminists for Animal Rights. The show

highlights the parallels between the objectification, exploitation,

and abuse of women and nonhuman animals in contemporary society,

focusing on real life images from rodeos, factory farms, research

laboratories, and pornographic magazines as well as images of women

and nonhuman animals in mythology, art and cutlure at large.

They were not made for humans any more than black people

were made for whites or women for men. "
