Hi Syndee and everyone,

I always appreciate it when people post announcements of shows like this! I

will try to watch it (not sure if I'll be able to watch it live since this

evening is also the organizing meeting for the Safeway/Shameway campaign).

Speaking of TV shows - on a current episode of a TV drama show, Law & Order, the

NY district attorney prosecuted a restaurant franchise for knowingly serving

contaminated (e.coli) cow flesh. The terminology was rather odd, since they

kept referring to violations of " animal rights laws " . I'd always heard various

pieces of law regarding animals referenced as " Humane Slaughter " or the " Animal

Welfare Act " , etc. Interestingly, they associated an individual investigating

the slaughterhouse with NY PIRG (Public Interest Research Group) instead of an

AR group.

Overall, I thought the treatment of the issue was pretty good. Much better than

when they tried to present some ALF-type people being prosecuted for liberating

some monkeys from a research lab....

Tammy
