Guest guest
Hi all, I wanted to share something about food containers and chemical contamination... If plastic put into a microwave gets hot, some chemicals, particularly dioxin and comparable endocrine disrupting substances, can migragte into our food. Paper, particularly bleached paper, contains some dioxin too. The dioxin is an unwanted result of the chlorine bleaching process. For this reason, paper also should be excluded from a microwave oven. Doing a web search on Google, I found a website link that has some information meant as a practical guide for us consumers: http://www.care2.com/channels/solutions/consumer_guides/287 Although I agree with the information in the above link, I don't claim to be an expert on matters regarding food contamination. Microwaves and plastic do not mix. >Plastic isn't as bad as styrofoam (even mainstream chemists NEVER nuke >styrofoam) but it still leaches into your food in a microwave.
