Guest guest
Dear friends, Here's the update on the Farm Bill. As you will see below, the bill was approved by the House of Reps., and the Senate will be voting on it possibly tomorrow or early next week. So this is what we need to do in the next few days before the Senate votes: (1) please please please make those phone calls to our senators (by Monday at the latest) telling them we want them to vote NO on the Farm Bill because (a) it is an awful bill for animals, the environment and family farms; (b) it's using our tax dollars for things we're against (billions of dollars in subsidies to factory farms; and © it's undemocratic (because those animal protection amendments were voted into the original bill by Congress, and then taken out by a few representatives who were on the committee that worked on the final version of the bill); and (2) forward this email to, or call, everyone you know all over the United Stateswho cares about animals and/or the environment and/or family farms and/or who is fiscally conservative (remember, animal advocates, environmentalists, family farm defenders and fiscal conservatives are united in their disappointment with this bill, and all are rallying to defeat it). For the animals, as always, THANKS for doing whatever you can to help defeat this bill. Let's make it clear to Congress that there are a lot of us who really care about these issues, especially animals and the environment. And remember that " all that is necessary for the triumph of evil is for good peole to do nothing. " If good people all over the United States call their senators, this bill CAN be defeated. Now the Senate will vote whether or not to accept this version of the Farm bill. We expect that to happen on next week. > > Various media sources have highlighted the fact that animal activists are in up arms about the Farm bill. This opposition to the Farm bill that you all are spearheading is making the waves we need if we are to demonstrate that animal protection is an issue the Congress must support. > > Please continue your good efforts in getting calls in to your two U.S. Senators. > > We have tomorrow and throughout the weekend to continue generating calls. > > Thank you, > > John Goodwin >
