Guest guest
I know a lot of you are fully aware of the current (and necessary) push to encourage fair trade and shade grown coffee. You also probably know that most large coffee/espresso chains are reluctant to pay higher prices for coffee. Recently there has been a lot of pressure on Starbucks to brew fair trade coffee, so after much discussion, they agreed to a trial day of fair trade coffee. How this affects you: On May 20th (all day), Starbucks will be serving all fair trade, shade grown coffee to see how the public responds. So, by buying coffee on May 20th, you can feel good not only because you're drinking better coffee, but you're supporting a movement for better wages and less environmental depletion and really, why shouldn't you support this kind of movement?! It would also be helpful to let the employees know that you think it's great that they're serving fair trade coffee! Imagine the impact it would have if a coffee giant like Starbucks switched to fair trade. Please be sure to tell them that you don't normally go to Starbucks, because you want fair trade coffee that is good for the songbirds, but that you would love to come back, if the corporation agrees to have fair trade, shade grown, coffee all the time.
