Guest guest Posted May 21, 2002 Report Share Posted May 21, 2002 Hi Everyone : ) I just saw a promo for tommorrow's ABC Evening News which airs at 5:30 on channel 7 in San Francisco. The promo said that there is a new movement afoot to give legal rights and lawyers to animals. Unfortunately (but not surprisingly) the announcer had a rather incredulous tone, as if to say " what will these loonies think of next? " However, the spot showed footage that seemed to be of chimpanzees in laboratories and of dolphins; hopefully the reporter who actually did the piece will be more sympathetic. I think that this piece has been inspired at least in part by Steven Wise's new book about granting legal rights to some animals and I'll be surprised if he is not mentioned and/or interviewed.
