Guest guest
**Spread the word** Events for factory farmed animals! On Saturday, July 13 Viva!UK, along with a number of other animal and green groups will be having a huge march in London to protest against factory farming. For more information see: http://www.factoryfarming.org.uk/pdf/flyer.html or www.factoryfarming.org.uk Here, Viva!USA is calling on activists around the U.S. to join in solidarity on behalf of the animals by organizing an event in your town. The 10 billion animals (not including sea creatures) killed yearly for food in the U.S. need your time and voices. Ideas on what you can do: 1. Leaflet about veganism and the conditions of factory farmed animals 2. Have an information table in a park or busy area about this issue 3. Pass out vegan burgers in front of places like McDonald's (or, like activists on the East Coast, serve vegan 'chicken' nuggets in front of places like KFC) 4. March from a local park to a place like Honeybaked Ham 5. Support your local farmed animal sanctuary - here are two ideas: a) Take the day to volunteer to help farmed animals b) Take an animal-eating friend or family member to meet some chickens, cows & pigs up close! Looking into the eyes of these animals might change their minds. Participating sanctuaries (you must contact them in advance): a.. Animal Place, Vacaville, CA - contact info; 707/449-4814 b.. Farm Sanctuary - Watkins Glen, NY - contact Michelle Waffner, Michelle or 607/583-4512 c.. Farm Sanctuary - Orland, CA - contact west or 530/865-4617, ext. 10. d.. Poplar Spring Animal Sanctuary, Poolesville, MD - contact info or 301/428-8128. 6. Show a film like " A Cow At My Table " to your community. If you would like to show one of Viva!USA's videos - just let us know. You can see our videos here: http://www.vivausa.org/Campaigns/pigs/visualmedia.htm What you do is up to you, but please do something! Once you have decided what you'll be doing on July 13, e-mail Viva! at july13 and tell us: 1. Group name (or your name if not affiliated with a group) 2. City 3. An e-mail address and/or phone number that we can give to others. We would like a list of events to which we can direct people who are interested in participating. Right now we are trying to compile a list of *definite* cities who can confirm participation. We will put this information on a page on our website. Click here for cities currently involved. Order our free When Pigs Cry packet which includes an order form for our pig literature (click here) or order our duck leaflets. Within the next month, we should also have leaflets for teens. Locations confirmed so far: Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, Long Island, Sacramento, San Francisco, St. Louis, Tampa, and Washington, DC. Let your voice for the animals join the thousands who will be in London on July 13. Thanks! Viva!USA www.vivausa.org P.O.
