Just providing all of you with an update from our very successful planning meeting at Rancho San Antonio Park on Sunday, 5/26. A great big thank you goes to all who attended-- especially Dave P, Glenn R, Sarah K, Jim, Glen M-- and especially to first-timers Robin G and Eric V--who travelled all the way from Santa Cruz to attend the meeting! Thanks and a great job to all! Aside from creating a solid outline of events for the remainder of 2002 (which I will share with you shortly)--we enjoyed the scenic natural environment of the park by going on a fun hike following the meeting... after which we enjoyed a delicious meal at Garden Fresh in Mountain View. Finally--we closed the night out with walking the main drag in Mountain View--that is--after we made a stop at the East West bookstore...which was a real treat for me being that it was my first time there! So...enough babble about the post-planning meeting festivities! Although we will be making MONTHLY postings as well, here's the way that things will be shaping-up for the South Bay Vegetarian Society for the duration of the year 2002: KEY: RO = Restaurant Outing PL = Potluck Dinner NOTE: I have included other significant events by other vegy-minded organizations! Whether you know a lot...a little...or nothing at all about the night sky, this will be a good chance to learn about the planets and stars above Northern California while enjoying the company of fellow veggies for good conversation...tasty vegy snacks...and perhaps a shooting star or two. Although a telescope is nice, binoculars will do just fine... and if all else fails, we will be doing mostly " naked-eye " astronomy. Things will get under way at 8:00 PM (while we still can see each other!) to give us all a chance to socialize...and as the sun gradually sinks under the Western horizon, more of the night sky will present itself to us. Other recommended things to bring: flashlight, bug repellant, sweatshirt with hood, comfortable shoes with socks, and layers of clothes to dampen any chill from the evening air. Location TBA nearer to the date of the event. For further information, please call Phil at 408)410-2186. So move over, Orion-the-hunter...the veggies are coming! 20th: PL.
