information, please call Phil at (408)410-2186.

8th: Save the Bay's 2nd Annual Picnic.(9:30 AM-3:00 PM) Although NOT a

vegetarian event, it could be a good opportunity to " build some

bridges " with the environmental community.

wetlands restoration projects, natural history tour, drawing prizes,

and more. Location: Arrowhead Marsh at Martin Luther King, Jr.

Regional Shoreline, Oakland. Admission cost is $10.00; canoe trip is

Street, San Francisco. $35 per person. For further information,

contact San Francisco Vegetarian Society @ (415)273-5481.

15th: 7th annual Open House at the Wildlife Center of Silicon Valley.

This is the one and only day of the year that the public is allowed

in to see the animals and how we work with them. There will also be

silent auctions on artwork and stuff, snacks and drinks, tours,

lectures, and wildlife shows - in the past, this event has been

VERY fun and informative! If you're interested in volunteering or

becoming a member, you can certainly learn about that, too! For

information about location (it's in Penetencia Creek Park in San

Jose), or background information about what the Center does, see

http://www.wcsv.org.

15th: PL. HOST NEEDED! If you will be able to volunteer your home this

evening, please send a message ASAP to Dave at

tantraguy2002

29th: Garden Tour: Organic Food Gardens in Our Neighborhoods. A guided

tour of home vegetable gardens in Mountain view, Sunnyvale, and

Cupertino. Tickets are $10.00 in advance, or $12.00 the day of the

tour. Two(2) tours to be given: 8:30 AM-1:00 PM or 12:00-5:00 PM

in Palo Alto. For further information, call 328-7756, ext.635.

29th-30th: Our very own Sarah K will be in a play (mostly in Chinese)...

but her small-but- " meaty " part will be in English....plus

there will be English subtitles througout. This is also in

San Jose - at the Mexican Heritage Plaza at 1700 Alum Rock.

This is another chance to be social and stuff, and you'll

also be supporting Asian American theater!

For further information, contact Sarah at SaKishler

JULY:

4th: Vegy BBQ/picnic followed by remote viewing of fireworks.

Location TBA at a later date.

5th: RO at Di Lac Vegetarian Cuisine, 1644 E. Capitol Expressway, San

Jose. For further information, contact Sarah at SaKishler

13th: Vegy Star Party. Whether you know a lot...a little...or nothing

at all about the night sky, this will be a good chance to learn

about the planets and stars above Northern California while

enjoying the company of fellow veggies for good

conversation...tasty vegy snacks...and perhaps a shooting star or

two. Although a telescope is nice, binoculars will do just fine...

and if all else fails, we will be doing mostly " naked-eye "

astronomy. Things will get under way at 8:00 PM (while we still

can see each other!) to give us all a chance to socialize...and as

the sun gradually sinks under the Western horizon, more of the

night sky will present itself to us. Other recommended things to

bring: flashlight, bug repellant, sweatshirt with hood,

comfortable shoes with socks, and layers of clothes to dampen any

chill from the evening air. Location TBA nearer to the date of the

event. For further information, please call Phil at 408)410-2186.

So move over, Orion-the-hunter...the veggies are coming!
