Guest guest
Hi there super_saiyan_z_goku, Welcome to the list and I'm glad you posted your questions about going veg! We have a really knowledgeable group of veg*ns here so feel free to post your questions as you evolve towards a veg diet. I know some folks find it helpful to have a buddy or mentor when making a lifestyle change like this. If you're new to veg*nism, sometimes the most isolating factor can be that your current relationships don't support your veg*nism. Please consider us (SFBAVeg) as your virtual buddy and veggie support network. We definitely know the best restaurants and places to shop for veg food in the Bay Area. Check out the calender to meet/learn more about veggie / animal rights stuff. There's also some useful links in the " Bookmarks " section.. I've added some of my favorite veggie sites there... Plus a bunch of FREEBIES you can get.... Check out the databases, some members wrote intros and listed their favorite books... all this may give you ideas and more motivation. Oh! Check out the " Files " section. I've listed a few of my favorite (and easy) recipes there. The Korean BBQ tofu is a big favorite at parties and several SFBAVeg'ers have also made it and give it rave reviews.... This is a great resource, esp. for new veg*ns, a FREE Veg Starter Kit: http://www.goveg.com/vegkit/index.html Cheers, Tammy " Perform a death-defying act.... Go Vegan! Guest guest
Hi, My transition to veg (now vegan) was, fortunately, smooth and I did not experience a longing for previous dietary choices. I believe what helped me the most was that I tried many different recipes. I think it is good, if you are cooking yourself, to find flavors, ingredients and cooking methods which meld into your lifestyle so that you enjoy the prep, the smell of the cooking, and mostly the finished product. Let's face it, part of the veg lifestyle is trying to get away from the fast food train of thought. I know I am busy these days, working and attending a Master's degree program. I keep Boca Burgers in the freezer. But I make time for things like a pasta salad, quinoa pilaf, artichoke hummus, and I find that this is " my time " . I enjoy all of it, even the clean-up doesn't bother me like it once did. I never used to be much good in the kitchen. Now, my cooking and baking skills are excellent. Try all different vegetables, fruits, legumes and grains. Use spices, flavorings, and marinades. Experiment! I am certain you will discover, as so many of us have, that you have been missing out on a delicious, healthful, and planet-friendly way of eating. Blessings and grace to you, Steve " super_saiyan_z_goku " <EJGoku Fri Jun 07 23:41:24 PDT 2002 [sFBAVeg] RE: Going Veg =) >I'd just like to say thanks for eveyone's input.
