Guest guest
Hi Everyone, Last week I went to the Berkeley Main Library and the Temescal Library (the Oakland branch library closest to where I live) and asked about the possibility of putting up some kind of display on the subject of vegetarianism during the month of October (World Vegetarian month). Turns out the Berkeley Library is only doing in-house displays right now because they¹re celebrating their reopening, but they were very receptive to the idea itself. At the Temescal Library, the designated display area is very small and they can only accommodate a flyer. So--what the hey--I¹ll do a flyer! If any of you are interested in making the same kind of inquiry at your local libraries, I¹m willing to coordinate your efforts--keep track of who¹s approaching whom, which libraries have said yes and so on. That way people won¹t duplicate efforts or can work together if you¹re interested in the same library. If enough of us did this, it might become feasible to call a meeting--say late July or August--to pool ideas and resources. Then next year we can build on this year! Guest guest
Hi Cathleen and everyone, > possibility of putting up some kind of display on the subject of > vegetarianism during the month of October (World Vegetarian month). Cathleen, your idea is a wonderful one! I really like this idea, and would like to participate. I'll have to see what my local libraries say (Pacifica, Half Moon Bay or even Daly City). Anyone who lives in this area and would like to work together, please let me know! For libraries that may not be available during October, November is also a good alternative to promote a vegetarian Thanksgiving. > If enough of us did this, it might become feasible to call a > meeting--say late July or August--to pool ideas and resources. Then > next year we can build on this year!] I know two resources that will definitely be included my informational display - you can probably guess that the first one is - - SFBAVeg, of course! I think our list is a great opportunity for veg*ns & pre-vegns to learn/share with/from each other.... And the 2nd would be PETA's Free Starter Kit. If we design anything particularly clever/colorful around the above 2 items, we'll make it available to anyone who wants copies. If you're interested in this library display, and will be at the picnic on 4th of July, we can also brainstorm prior or during the picnic. http://www.generationv.org//4thofjuly.htm Cheers, Tammy
