Saturday, July 13th: Act Against Factory Farming!

Dear Friends,

The Food & Social Justice Project will be organizing an event for July 13th,

the day that Viva! USA has identified as day when we should all act against

factory farming (please check out: http://www.vivausa.org/ for more

details). While our sister group, ARDAC, has also planned a set of events

for the day (doing a " tour " of the city, and demonstrating at specific

targets - Honeybaked Ham, Jack-in-the-Box, Carl's Jr., etc.), we will be

doing a complementary event. Ours will focus on positive alternatives. We'll

be doing a feed-in; our Go Vegan! cheerleaders will be leading us all in

rallying cries urging passersby to (you guessed it!) go vegan; and we'll

have our baby faunette on hand to show the latest-hot-off-the-presses " Meet

Your Meat " video while we leaflet. All very exciting, positive, and fun.

Hope everyone can make it!

We're looking for volunteers to:

(i) be cheerleaders. We need 8 cheerleaders to spell out, " Go Vegan! " We'd

like to have a diverse group of cheerleaders: all ages, all genders, all

sizes, all ethnicities, etc.;

(ii) folks to assist with pre-event food preparation;

(iii) folks to help out with food distribution at the event;

(iv) people to help leaflet;

(v) people to hold signs; and

(vi) people to hang out and have a good time.

What? Event to Act Against Factory Farming and Act *FOR* the health,

environmental, and animal protection benefits of a vegan diet!!

When? Saturday, July 13th, from 12 noon - 2 pm

Where? Market & Powell - a great location on a Saturday afternoon!!

Who? You, and everyone you know!!

Why? We'll have lots of fun whilst conveying a really important message

(plus, the plan is to go out for a late lunch afterwards at Golden Era)

I'll be leaving on Friday morning (June 28th) and will be gone until Monday,

July 8th. I will have limited access to my email, but I'll be checking
