Guest guest
Although I take some delight in the overall declining numbers of hunters, I have seen many books and articles in recent years targetting young girls and women, regaling the " sports " of hunting and fishing. They are trying to replace the rate of decline in these formerly male-bonding activities with females. I heard on the news today that Walmart is the leading seller of guns in the US. You could go into a store and come out with a shopping bag full of guns. Now Walmart is requiring at least a 3-day hold until your application for purchase has gone through a background check. It would be interesting to know the specifics of " background check " , e.g., Does your father have a gun? - Yes. Check #1-ok. Does your brother have a gun? - Yes. Check #2 - ok. Does your mother have a gun? - No. Check #3 - ok - passed the test because Mom could always borrow the other guns in the house. Happy 4th everyone! A national survey conducted by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service was released at the conference that showed that the number of all hunters declined by 7 percent in the past five years, and that small game hunting was down 22 percent. This was explained simply: As older hunters die or drop out of the sport, they are not being replaced by younger hunters at the same rate. [The article also mentioned that only 7% of Americans now have hunting licenses.] ______________________ ______________________
