Seeking alternatives to a gory idiom

A meat eating boss of mine tends to over use " There are several ways

to skin a cat " , making me squirm every time. I think he will use an

alternative if I found him one as long as it is not too contrived.

Any suggestions are welcome.

 

How's about: There's more than one way to peel a potato.
