Please respond if there's something you can commit to so I can keep track of volunteers. Many, many thanks!! PLEASE feel free to pass this on! City Tea for Country Critters August 18th, 2002 Fundraising Party for Farm Sanctuary Volunteer Opportunities There are many opportunities to help out with this exciting fundraiser. If you are interested in any of the following responsibilities, please contact Colleen A. Patrick (colleen) or Alka Chandna (alka.chandna). Thank you for your efforts to protect farmed animals. BEFORE THE PARTY *Hang flyers for the fundraising party at " pet " stores, bookstores, supermarkets, natural food stores, libraries, universities, churches, etc. *Donate yummy vegan food to auction off (homemade cookies, cupcakes, brownies, etc.) *Donate yummy vegan " tea party " food to serve (talk to Alka and Colleen about specifics) *Donate $20 in stamps (for mailing invitations) *Donate flower pots (we can return these, so they can be just a loan) *Donate flowers (flats from a nursery) *Donate services people can bid on for the Silent Auction. These services can be any kind of professional service (massage, hair cut, babysitting, gardening, anything!) *Donate items to the silent auction. Some ideas include Subscriptions to VegNews, Subscriptions to Animals Agenda Magazine, Subscriptions to Satya Magazine *Vegan cookbooks or animal rights books, etc. (Please contact us if you'd like to donate books; we have lists of suggestions!) *Lend us a few money " lock-boxes " for tickets, registration fees, and silent auction items. (These will be returned and are not permanent donations) *Assist with spreading the word online (Craigslist, etc.); people with websites may wish to include an announcement of the tea party on their site DAY OF THE PARTY *Set up the space *Set up tables and chairs, TV/VCR, food, mikes, etc. *Line up tables for auction, food, etc. *Decorate the space *Put tablecloths on tables *Put flowers/centerpieces on tables *Hang ivy and other decorations DURING THE PARTY *Take photographs of event *Be in charge of the videos we will be playing on the TV for people to watch at their leisure. Just make sure there is always a video playing. Rewind and replay as needed. *Help staff tables that need staffing (this will be " periodic staffing, " as there won't be a constant need to have people standing at tables). Tables that will need some presence include the Walk-a-Thon sign-up table. There is a $10 registration fee, so we need someone to collect money. *Take tickets at the door (2 people needed for this position) *Keep food and drink tables replenished. AFTER THE PARTY *Clean up *Un-decorate *Help pack up cars --------------------- JustGive.org (www.justgive.org) Find a charity. Make a difference.
