Guest guest
Dear Tammy & other friends, Thanks for sending this out, Tammy! Yes, it's very exciting that Michael Greger is offering to speak around the country. He's a very dynamic speaker with expertise in numerous subjects spanning everything from mad cow disease to globalization and animals to vegan nutrition. Although we've been a bit slow advertising this (we're working on flyers, etc. right now), Colleen Patrick & I are very excited that Michael will be speaking at the " City Tea for Country Critters: A Fancy Fundraiser for Farm Sanctuary " that we will be hosting on August 18th, from 4 pm - 7:30 at the First Unitarian Church of Oakland (685 14th Street). The specific details on Michael's talk have yet to be ironed out, but the SFBAVEG community will certainly be the first to know!! I believe the San Francisco Vegetarian Society will also be hosting a talk with Michael Greger on August 17th (Saturday). I'm sure both events will be worth checking out. Cheers, Alka P.S. -- I had the opportunity to hear Michael Greger speak at the animal rights conference in DC (AR2002). Tammy was kind enough to invite me to share some notes on the conference. Not surprisingly, given my long-windedness, I'm still writing. Coming soon ... :-) Tammy [govegan] Thursday, July 18, 2002 5:59 PM SF-Be-A-Veg [sFBAVeg] Michael Greger - anyone need a speaker? Hi all, Forwarding a note from Michael Greger re: his availability as a free speaker. In a subsequent note, he mentioned he's already booked 8/17, 8/18, 8/24 & 8/24, and will be back in the Bay Area in February. Cheers, Tammy ****************** I'm spending this year going around the country and speaking and I'll be in California the second half of August. Since I'll be in the area I could speak for free if someone could set up a venue for me. Probably my most popular talk of late is one on the latest in vegetarian nutrition, but I speak on a variety of veg-related topics. Please see http://www.veganMD.org for descriptions of my talks and for bio info. love, Michael PS: Do you have any contact info for other animal or veg related groups in the area that might be interested in having me speak (either community groups or student groups)? -- http://www.veganMD.org HEART FAILURE: Diary of a Third Year Medical Student Full text now available free at http://www.upalumni.org/medschool *Tell your friends to Be-A-Veg with SFBAVeg!
