Guest guest
Hi all, I caught an episode of Bay Area Backroads that featured the SF Wholesale Produce Market. " San Francisco Wholesale Produce Market is home to over 30 produce businesses offering a variety of produce products -- from Conventional produce and Fresh Cuts, to Asian and Hispanic items as well as Organics. " What caught my eye on their website was some interesting articles on their website called " Fresh News " . Here's an example of an issue - http://www.sfproduce.org/freshnews/07.16.02.htm - gives the history of the eggplant and current seasonal status (price/availability) of fruits/veggies. Per Bay Area Backroads, the market runs from midnight to 8 a.m. and is open to the public, although most of its sales are restaurants, stores, etc. The caveat is you have to buy by the case. It looked pretty interesting. Next time I have insomnia or am planning a big veggie party, this might be the place to go :-D If you have actually been to this, I'd be curious to hear your impressions of it!
