Guest guest
Hi all, After the hike at Tilden on Saturday, we went to the Berkeley Farmer's Market. We were delighted to find a vegan food vendor there, Ragasoul, which features organic " Soul Food " (African, Caribbean influence). Some of you may remember Ragasoul from last year's World Vegetarian Day. Raga had two entrees for sale at the Berkeley FM -- rice with African Peanut Stew or rice with curry vegetable stew. There was a constant flow of folks interested in trying the samples. After trying both, I picked the African Peanut Stew. It's hard for me to describe to you the actual taste of the African Peanut Stew, all I can say is that it was very delicious and if I was ever in Berkeley on a Saturday and needed lunch, I'd go back again! Also available were the pies that are available through grocery stores (like the health food store next to Herbivores on Valencia). The entrees were $5.00 each, and I think the pies were $2.50 each. And I should also mention that the market was packed full of organic fruit & vegetable vendors. In comparison to Alemany (SF) Farmer's Market that we visited earlier, this one had a much more robust organic selection. One cautionary note, though -- pay attention to prices as we had pricing errors with two of the vendors that we bought fresh produce from. So, just FYI, for anyone looking for another vegan food option in the Berkeley area on a Saturday!
