Guest guest
Hi everyone! I've been hanging around for a month or two, but haven't gotten around to posting an introduction of myself... but it seems to be the current trend, so why not jump on board, right? I am a 22 year old female living with my boyfriend in Pittsburg (waaaay out in the east bay). ) He is not vegetarian, and in fact, he doesn't like vegetables, so we sometimes have a hard time coordinating our meals. Major problem. We end up eating out a lot because of it. I am actually kinda new to the area... Well, theoretically, I'm not... I've been here for a little over a year, but I go to school (commute) in Sacramento, so most of the people I know are there. I'm a geography major and recently started an internship with the Greenbelt Alliance (www.greenbelt.org). Yay! ) I am mostly looking for open minded new friends, to build a base for myself here in the bay area. It kinda sucks being on your own! (Note: Anyone looking for an exercise partner? )) As far as my vegetarianism goes, I have been a veggie for 7 years now. I consider myself a strict vegetarian, as I do stay away from meat, gelatin, etc... But I am not a vegan. And I haven't conquered the whole rennet issue, either. It's just too hard for me at this point in my life. I consider all of the reasons people become vegetarian as being *my* reasons, because they are all valid and apply to me - health, animal rights, environmental concerns, etc. But, embarrassingly, the main reason I continue to be vegetarian is because the idea of eating something dead is simply gross to me. Feel free to email me at ostara if you want to... Otherwise, I hope to get more involved with this group as it progresses. ) Jocelyn
