Guest guest
Hi, My name is Rob, and I've been lurking on this list since it was first started. I guess it's finally time for me to introduce myself. I've been a vegetarian for almost ten years, and I'm about 90% vegan - meaning that I'm usually vegan, but will occasionally eat something with a little dairy or egg in it, usually some sort of dessert. I first moved to the bay area two years ago, and lived in Mountain View. After a year of paying too much rent, I moved to the east bay and now live in Pittsburg with my fiancee (who is also 90% vegan). I miss the plethora of veggie restaurants on the peninsula, but I recently started working in SF, so I have plenty of great choices for after-work dining. Before I moved to the bay area, I lived in the San Diego area (6 years), and before that, Canada (where I was born and raised). I've never been an activist of any sort, but I did get involved with starting the San Diego chapter of EarthSave. OK, my former girlfriend was the one who was involved with EarthSave, but I did help out. My hobbies include hiking, biking, movies, reading (long commute on BART, y'know) and almost anything to do with technology. I'm a software engineer by profession and that would become immediately apparent if you ever see the inside of my house. Like some other people have mentioned, I'd be interested in meeting lunch buddies (8th & Townsend, SF), hiking/biking buddies (eastern Contra Costa) or BART buddies (Pittsburg to Civic Center). Well, that's me in a nutshell. I really enjoy this list - as a newcomer to the bay area, it's been a great way for me to find some of the veggie resources, restaurants, etc. Thank you all for being so informative and friendly. -Rob
