Guest guest
It is very cool to read everyone's short veggie/vegan bios. Here's mine :-) I'm a 29-year-old female who moved to SF in December 2001 after living on the East Coast for 12 years (lived in Hell A from ages 3-16). I've been a lacto-vegetarian since I was 13 years old, first because of animal rights (I could tell you all the vivisection issues backward and forward from all those essays I wrote as a freshman in hs!). I at first was including eggs and fish in my diet, but a year later, I cut those out. Due to spiritual beliefs, I don't completely shun milk products, but along the course of my life, I have definitely decreased consumption to a minimum--my main weakness is yogurt (kefir is the best!). I prefer soy substitutes, otherwise. In college, I got into sprouting, juicing, raw fooding, occasional fasting, even dabbled in fruiting, but right after I finished, all that went out the window. I've always been a health food shopper though. I'm not a stickler about organic stuff, but it's preferable! :-) When I first became veg, my parents absolutely flipped out. Coming from Korea, they just couldn't figure it out. Anyhow, by the grace of a power greater than us all, eventually as the years passed my parents admitted that because of me, they have drastically reduced their meat intake. Talk about excellent! And they're much more health conscious as well. And all because of lil ole me *blush* This group is great! I always find out such neat stuff through announcements. Unfortunately, my lazy East Coast butt hates to travel more than 30 min. by public transport, so I honestly have not been able to attend most of the gatherings. But that does not mean I'm not there in spirit! Caitanya Health - Feel better, live better http://health.
