Dear Friends,

I'm forwarding the following note from my pal, activist Dave Bemel. Dave

volunteers with the Seattle-based Action for Animals (AFA) and recently toured

with the Warped Music Tour. Through the tabling efforts of Dave and his

volunteer crew (including head, Rose Broome!), they were able to do

phenomenal outreach to concert-goers. While Dave, Rose & the others volunteered

their time to spread the message of veganism and animal rights to the public

(some putting their lives on hold for two full weeks to tour), distributing

3,000 copies of " Why Vegan?, " 250 copies of Meet Your Meat (on CD)

and 10,000 " Free Vegan Starter Pack " cards, they have incurred significant

costs. If you can spare a few dollars, please consider making a donation to

Action for Animals (contact information follows). Thanks so much!

Cheers,

Alka

-----------------

As you may know, AFA just toured with the Warped Music Tour for 2 weeks and

set up an outreach table at 10 shows in 8 cities. While it is hard to calculate

exactly how many

people we reached, I can say that we had 424 people sign up to join our

email list " to receive action alerts and get more involved. " I also know

that we distributed 10 cases of the booklet Why Vegan, or about 3,000

copies. All of the copies were to people who approached the table, and we

only gave them to about 1/2 of the people who came up. In addition about

250 copies of Meet Your Meat were distributed (we ran out the 2nd day!) and

we passed out about 10,000 " Free Vegan Starter Pack " cards. We are

currently receiving about 20 to 25 requests a day for Vegan Starter Packs,

about half of which contain a CD copy of Meet Your Meat (they must request

it). Info packs alone cost about $2 each.

One of the most exiting events to unfold during this years Warped Tour is

the strong possibility that, through connections we made this year, AFA

might have a booth on the entire tour next year.

We did have some setbacks. The canopy flew away and broke in Vegas setting

us back $220 and sales were lower then last year so we did not make as much

money (in fact we lost quite a bit overall).

Overall this years Warped Tour outreach was very positive and successful.

Many thanks to the Fund for Animals for their help and to AFA's Warped Tour

crew.

If you would like to help AFA cover costs of info packs and bills we

acquired while on tour donations can be sent to:
