Guest guest
Hi all, Shaelaja, I think this is a wonderful idea! Outdoor picnics in the park are great. When I lived in Contra Costa, every summer the Contra Costa Vegetarians (CCV) moved their monthly vegan potluck to Larkey Park and it was great, especially since there was a playground there and the veggie parents & kids could both come and be entertained. I had actually been talking outside the list with Dianne who is the coordinator for the CCV. We thought it'd be fun to have a " joint " veggie picnic at Tilden Park for Saturday, 8/24th. We'll have it on the grassy field just outside Lake Anza. Was thinking to start at 11:30, have lunch at noon. This is a beautiful spot to meet for a picnic. And besides eating and sharing some surely good conversation and camraderie, it's a big enough area that we could go hiking or swimming in the Lake afterwards.... or just eat more food :-D There's also the possibilities of perhaps playing games (one of my favorites is a charades-type game called GUESSTURES). Anyone else out there like board games? This one is particularly hilarious. The grassy field adjacent to Lake Anza is close to parking and there is public transit to the park as well. There's no fee to enter the park, no fee for car parking, but there is a small fee to swim. We need a few folks who can help us set-up, so it's especially preferable if you live in the East Bay or can get there early. Also, I know there are a lot of veggies who are not online. If you know of a good spot to post a small flyer for our picnic, and could post it, please email me and I'll send you a flyer. Whadya think?? Cheers, Tammy
