Guest guest
I still have a problem with " you should read this book, " . " I feel you would enjoy this book " ,or " I think you might really get a lot out of this book... I did " , etc. Are more clear statements of intention and avoid offence by not being interpetable as encroaching on the other persons right do as they chose. Also I have a suggestion about suggestions.. That is to offer " I have a suggestion would you like to hear it " . If they say yes.. they will be open to it...listening and possibly understanding. Whereas if I just shove it at them...They may feel put upon & feel that I need to be punished. e.g. labeled or abused etc. for imposing on them. I am ok with hearing " No " and have no desire to push, except in a dire situation where such a suggestion would be better defined as a warning. e.g life threatening, legal, etc. Blessings and kindness to all Jay Jay Gleason [jay.gleason] Sunday, August 04, 2002 10:27 AM ; Mr. Pete Thank you Mr. Pete and a request for understanding. This message is on topic because it has to do with showing respect & kindness to other human animals, as well as, how to more kindly & effectively communicate on AR/veg issues.
