PLEASE NOTE UNUSUAL PLACE!

CONTRA COSTA VEGETARIANS' VEGAN POTLUCK!

(Vegan = no animal products of any kind;

ie, no meat, fish, eggs, dairy, honey, etc.)

SATURDAY, AUGUST 17TH, 2002

6:00 P.M.: GATHER; 6:30 P.M.: EAT

LARKEY PARK IN WALNUT CREEK

PLEASE BRING:

–one dish (per attendee) to feed 6-8 people

--an autographed copy of your recipe to place by

your dish for others to read/copy/inquire about

--your own reusable plate, cup, silverware, napkin

(and don't forget a serving spoon)

Directions:

going north on Hwy 680: take the Treat Blvd/Geary Rd

exit (this is less than 1.5 miles from the 24/680

interchange and is the exit shortly following the

North Main [ie, Keys] exit; turn left at the signal

and go

over the freeway (this is Treat Blvd, but it becomes

Geary when you cross North Main); take Geary 0.6 miles

to Buena Vista Ave and turn left (this is the first

signal you will come to; Putnam Blvd is to the right).

Larkey Park is one long block down on the right at

Buena Vista and First Ave (small parking lot; street

parking is also fine).

going south on 680: take the Treat Blvd/Geary Rd exit,

turn left at the signal on to North Main St, then turn

right at the first signal, which is Geary Rd; take

this 0.6 miles to Buena Vista Ave and turn left (this

is

the first signal you will come to; Putnam Blvd is to

the right). Larkey Park is one long block down on the

right at Buena Vista and First Ave(small parking lot;

street parking is also fine).

General info: Larkey Park is only 1-2 miles from the

Keys condo, so you’re traveling time should only

increase by a few minutes (more surface street time is

involved). We haven’t been there in years, but we used

to gather at the picnic tables at the top of the

incline. There is a nice playground pu there with

swings, slides and climbing equipment, so kids

are likely to enjoy this gathering. The Lindsay Museum

is in this park, but it is closed in the evening.
