Guest guest
Okay, I was told to send an email to say hello. My name is Julie. I live in Emeryville and work in Oakland. I'm a single athletic 33 year old. Not looking for a date. Looking for a group to keep me on the vegetarian path. I buy only organic veggies and fruits as well. I'm an East Bay native, love to garden, although I currently live in a large loft with no garden :-(. I don't criticize others for eating meat. My reasons not to are personal health, political, and spiritual. I recently tried eating meat again- go ahead and gasp -- and noticed I lost weight in the month I was eating meat--I like the weight loss but not the meat eating--so I think I tend to bulk up too much on carbs when eating vegetarian and would love to get more ideas on bringing in more protein into my vegetarian diet. I also am very busy and it's sometimes hard to plan balanced meals on a busy schedule. Also, sometimes I get a low blood sugar feeling after eating, brain stops working at work. I need to work on my diet to keep the brain energy flowing since I get paid to think at work. Looking for some good advice. Eating vegetarian is a challenge sometimes because I am also a celiac, which means I cannot tolerate gluten which is in wheat, barley, rye, and there is a debate as to whether it is in oats as well. Yep, I can't eat most breads, pastas, soy sauce, etc. unless they are wheat free. It is not an allergy but an auto-immune disease (my body attacks my g.i. track when there's gluten sightings) that's genetic--so I can't even cheat or I end up getting really ill, so would love to hear from anyone else that is a vegetarian and a celiac. If you are curious and want to know more about it, check out www.celiac.org. I won't be able to go to the picnic on the 24th, but hope to attend other events.
