Guest guest
Hello Friends: My vegan friend at work who lives in south bay wants to know where to get vegan cakes. I vaguely remember many places being mentioned for vegan cakes, but could not remember anything. As I am not fond of cakes, my brain cells have conveniently destroyed all I have heard of vegan cakes. I know, Millenium restaurant makes good vegan cakes, but I doubt if my friend would drive to SFO as frequently as his vegan cake appetite demands. Please help me out here... My friend thinks I am a vegan reference book... here I go.... Cheers, thava Health - Feel better, live better http://health.
Guest guest
Try Whole Foods. They always have some sort of fresh vegan cake or cup-cakes. Either made in house or from Black China Bakery who are based in Santa Cruz. You can also order direct from Black China. A lot of other places carry Black China cake, including a few of the SF veggie restaurants (Golden Era, Herbivores) There's also Now and Zen in San Francisco, but I'm not sure if they still sell their cakes to the public. Guest guest
Last time I checked, you actually couldn't order direct from Black China, unless that has changed. But you can at least contact them and they will be glad to tell you where in the South Bay you can buy their cakes, which are DELISH! I know that Wild Oats (now Piccadilly something) in Sunnyvale has had their cupcakes, and I think they carry their cakes, too. For awesome vegan anything, including yummies like cake, pie and shakes, check out the infamous Dharma's Cafe in Capitola, on Capitola Rd. near 41st Ave. One of my favorite places to eat - and great prices for the amounts of food you get! Guest guest
We've ordered quite a few cakes direct from Black China over the years. I do hope they've not changed their ordering policy You have to make special arrangements to pick them up though. They've also offered to drop off if the location is on route to stores they deliver to. But it does costs money. One advantage about going direct is that they can do sheet cakes for a lot less than getting lots of smaller cakes at the store. Great for large parties They can also do wedding cakes. Here's a picture from wedding cake they did 3 years ago http://www.generationv.org/cake.htm Take care Chris Sue Blankman [suesf5] Tuesday, August 06, 2002 5:53 PM chris; thavamuni Cc: RE: [sFBAVeg] vegan cake ... Guest guest
Hi Thava and others, I know Bay Leaf Cafe in Palo Alto sells vegan cakes. You may even be able to negotiate the kind of cake by talking to Cindy Liang. (Full Disclosure: Cindy is a good friend and hence I am sparing with the adjectives :-) .)
