Hi all,

Erin's birthday is August 24th, the same date as our Grass-and-Lake Vegan

Food Party in Berkeley. Do we have any other birthday-folks around that

time? If so, I was thinking it would be fun to celebrate all the birthdays

together! And a good excuse, uh, I mean reason!, to encourage some yummy

vegan desserts! Any bakers out there up to the challenge? It'd be great if

we had a few cakes, pies, cupcakes, etc. Of course, we need other types of

foods too, tiramasu, brownies.. Just kidding! Actually, everyone is welcome

(veggies, non-veggies, pre-veggies..) to bring whatever type of food they

like, all that we ask is that it's vegan. Vegan food is the most basic food

and everyone can eat it. If you need help/suggestions, please feel free to

ask the list or email me privately.

Details on the 8/24 Grass-and-Lake Vegan Food Party are here:

http://www.generationv.org/events.htm It's at Berkeley's Lake Anza

(swimming allowed!). We're gathering at 11:30 for a noon eating time. Hey,

if you have a new vegan recipe you'd like to " animal test " on a willing

audience? This is your opportunity!

This event is jointly sponsored by SFBAVeg and Contra Costa Vegetarians.

Way back during my days in Contra Costa, CCV used to hold their summer

potlucks in the park on a regular basis; I thought they were a nice change

from the regular indoor potlucks at people's houses. There was always a

greater turnout of families and kids when they were outdoors. And there was

even enough interest in Contra Costa at that time that a separate

Parents/Kids potluck group started..... Anyways, that was part of the

original inspiration to have a picnic at Tilden Park....

It's not necessary to RSVP to attend this event. But, if you can make a

cake or are definitely planning to come, it'd be nice to know in advance so

we have enough tables to hold all the food :-) We're planning to have 2

card tables and we'll have canopies/signs so you can see us. The set-up

will be similar to the 4th of July Sand-and-Surf Party:

If you can come early and bring a card table, please let us know as it'd be

good to have an extra. So far I think I've heard from about 10 folks.

So mark 8/24 on your calendar! Looking forward to meeting y'all!!

Cheers,

Tammy
