Guest guest
Dear Friends, Just a quick reminder that our Fundraising Tea Party for Farm Sanctuary is happening *this* Sunday, August 18th. Colleen Patrick & I, along with an amazing troupe of phenomenal volunteers, have been drawing up the menu and gathering together donations for the silent auction. Through the collective energies of our vital and energetic community, Sunday's soiree promises to be a fabulous fete of feasting and fun. On the menu: vegan biscuits, scones, " sour cream " streusel coffee cake, lemon cake, almond biscotti, lemon anise cookies, chocolate mint cookies, two kinds of pate, three kinds of sandwiches, two shades of lemonade, green & black tea, and much, much more. Bring your appetite! In addition to food & drink, we'll have live acoustic music, door prizes, and several wonderful silent auction items, including professional massages, a salon facial, fair trade coffee & tea gift baskets, food gift baskets, books, cooking class gift certificates, limited edition t-shirts, subscriptions to hot, national veggie newspapers, cruelty-free toiletries, and more! Many of the goodies are being donated by companies such as Tofutti, Soy Delicious, Sunflour Baking Company, No Cookie Cookie, VegNews, and L'Amys Tea Bar in Oakland. A talented pianist will set the mood, and our special guest speaker, Dr. Michael Greger, M.D., will speak on Mad Cow Disease. Michael Greger, M.D., a general practitioner specializing in vegetarian nutrition, is a nationally recognized speaker on a number of important public health and social justice issues. As Farm Sanctuary's chief investigator on mad cow disease, he debated the National Cattlemen's Beef Association Director before the FDA and was invited as an expert witness to defend Oprah Winfrey in the infamous " meat defamation trial. " This is also the perfect time to sign up as walkers or pledgers for either the Oakland " Walk for Farm Animals " on September 7th or the San Francisco walk on October 26th! RSVP is not required but requested and appreciated. You're welcome to decide at the last minute, and the donation at the door is a sliding scale of $5-$25. ALL ages are welcome. We hope you can make it and look forward to seeing you there! For more info, contact colleen. HOSTED BY: Colleen A.
