Guest guest
Hi everybody, As part of Viva!'s international campaign against Adidas for its use of kangaroo leather, we will be having a local protest in honor of its Adidas Day of Action. WHEN? Saturday August 31 from 11-1 WHERE? Harputs Adidas 1527 Fillmore St. (between Geary and O'Farrell) in San Francisco Contact info for more details. WHY? Seven to eleven million kangaroos are killed every year, in the largest wildlife massacre in the world, and their skins are used to be made into soccer cleats, handbags, and baseball mitts. For information about the campaign against kangaroo leather, please see http://www.vivausa.org/Campaigns/Kangaroo/adidas.htm Update from Lauren from Viva! about the campaign: Viva! has received an internal memo from the kangaroo industry stating, " A United Kingdom-based radical animal liberation organisation...has launched a campaign targeting Adidas. " It goes on to say that " This (soccer cleat) industry is vital to the kangaroo industry. Without it underpinning kangaroo skin prices the entire industry would be at risk. " " Adidas have received to date over 10,000 emails complaining about their use of kangaroo leather...and are obviously concerned about damage to their image. " Let's make sure Adidas hears from us in the USA too! Call Adidas at 800/448-1796 or send an e-mail to: Consumer.Relations Don't forget to join us on August 31st! For a packet on this campaign e-mail Viva! at roos. Viva! P.O. Box 4398 Davis, CA 95617 530/759-8482 www.vivausa.org An even bigger protest will be held the same day in Portland, Oregon, at Adidas's headquarters. If you're interested in attending that demonstration, please contact info. Looking forward to seeing many of you out at the demo in San Francisco! Have a great weekend, everyone, Nora _______________ Send and receive Hotmail on your mobile device: http://mobile.msn.com
Guest guest
I forwarded this alert to friends/colleagues and the following is a reply from an educated Australian woman - goes to show how much education is needed. REPLY--------- but note that they are also a pest and they overrun all the land in australia. so it is better to at least use them then to waste them.
