Guest guest
howdy, all! i just picked up " living with meat eaters " by carol j. adams and spent a *lively* Friday night reading it from cover to cover while my boyfriend's band rocked the house for hours... anyway, it's a great book. for those of you not familiar with carol j. adams, she has composed many books on the subject of vegetarianism, mostly incorporating the feminist movement into the theme. ( The Sexual Politics of Meat: A feminist-vegetarian critical theory; Neither Man nor Beast: Feminism and the Defense of animals) Living with meat eaters goes though step by step on how to deal with the folks most important to you, parents, family, friends, lovers, who may challenge your decision to be a vegetarian, as well as the random acquaintance who thrusts meat into your face and says " mmmm, yummm! don't you want a bite of dead flesh? " Having been in a relationship for a very long time with an omnivore, and not having anyone in my family begin to understand how i could pass up Grandma's green beans with bacon, this book is a bit or reassurance that i am not strange, nor crazy, nor have an eating disorder ;-) Pick it up, if you have a chance. cheers melody Care2 make the world greener! Guest guest
I'd like to second this recommendation - Carol Adams has written a great book. I'm so glad that I purchased this book, as it has given me some good cheap therapy for living among meat eaters. -Kim On Sat, 24 Aug 2002, Melody ODonnell wrote: > howdy, all! > i just picked up " living with meat eaters " by carol j. adams and spent a *lively* Friday night reading it > from cover to cover while my boyfriend's band rocked the house for hours... > anyway, it's a great book. > for those of you not familiar with carol j. adams, she has composed many books on the subject of > vegetarianism, mostly incorporating the feminist movement into the theme.
