Guest guest
Hi All, A couple of members had commented on receiving replies to their posts to SFBAVeg that they felt were inappropriate. I don't know if the posts were sent from other SFBAVeg members or not. If the latter, this could be related to how we have the group set up. As you all know, SFBAVeg has " public " archives. This means that anyone who has internet access can go to: /messages and see everything that is posted to the list. You do not need to be a member of SFBAVeg, or even have a ID. And we are an easy group to find. If you search for " san francisco vegetarian " or google for that term, you will come across our forum... We are a pro-veggie, pro-AR forum, so we may attract people who do not agree with our general viewpoint, or it may be just someone who did not agree with that individual post. If you want to send a message to SFBAVeg, you *do* need to be a member of SFBAVeg. But did you know that to reply to a message on SFBAVeg, you do *not* need to be a member of SFBAVeg. All you need is a ID. We do have the option of closing the archives, which would prevent non-members from reading our messages. But, this would also impact SFBAVeg members who d with an email address only and don't have a ID (roughly 6% of our membership). This would also impact anyone reading the archives who isn't an " official " member of SFBAVeg. I don't really have a perspective if these were just isolated incidents or something happening on a regular basis. If you have any thoughts/perspectives, please feel free to email me.
