Guest guest
Hi all, Later this month the USPS will be issuing 37cents stamps that say " Neuter or Spay " on them, with a photo of a kitten & puppy. Very cute baby animals.. also featured on a poster in my Post Office. I wonder what the process was to get this selected as a stamp. Wouldn't it be great to get one promoting animal rights or vegetarianism! So, just FYI for folks that use a lot of stamps and want one with a message :-) Tammy see pictures here http://shop.usps.com/cgi-bin/vsbv/postal_store_non_ssl/browse_content/stampR eleaseDisplay.jsp?OID=8387 & BV_UseBVCookie=yes press release here http://www.usps.com/news/2002/philatelic/sr02_031.htm Be a Veg with SFBAVeg! http://www.generationv.org/.htm * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * Perform a death-defying act.... Guest guest
Hi Tammy and friends, More information on the Spay/Neuter stamps: The Spay/Neuter stamp was a project of PalC (Prevent a litter Coalition), who launched the STAMP OUT! Program. Lending support were Spay USA, HSUS, Pets 911, Doris Day Animal League, Doris Day Animal Foundation, and the ASPCA. Samantha the kitten and Kirby the puppy have truly representative stories of why we need to increase awareness on the problem of pet overpopulation. For more detail on Samantha and Kirby: http://www.americanpartnershipforpets.org/philately101.html When photographed, Kirby and Samantha were both homeless shelter pets. Kirby and Samantha are a tangible face of the plight of the millions of unwanted and homeless pets, many of which would make wonderful companions if only given the chance, and of spay/neuter as a preventative part of the solution. The animals on the stamps alongside the spay/neuter message will also help to educate the public to alter their pets before first heat and early spay/neuter surgery. By the way, both animals were adopted by loving families - respectively neutered and spayed of course, and they are now leading happy and healthy lives!
