Guest guest
EAST BAY LIVING FOODS SEPTEMBER POTLUCK Mark your calendar! This month's potluck is on Saturday, September 21st. The potluck begins at 6:15 p.m. in Alameda. We encourage you to bring food so there is enough for all. If you haven't been to a potluck before, perhaps bring organic fruit or a green salad. Also, check out recipes on www.living-foods.com, a great living/raw foods resource. More guidelines about food follow in this announcement. The potluck is at 6:15 p.m. at 1300 Grand Street (at Alameda Avenue) in the Garden Cottage BEHIND the Home of Truth Spiritual Center. Go though the gate off of Alameda Avenue to get to the cottage. We are pleased to have Jon Cotton speak on Unlimited Vitality Through Optimal Nutrition, Cleansing and Natural Lifestyle. Jon is one of the original raw/living foods members of the East Bay Living Foods Community and believes that 95% of everything we've been taught about nutrition is a lie. Jon has studied health and nutrition extensively and has modeled what he's learned in his own life. He also integrates an energetic understanding of the body from 15 years as a teacher of meditation, intuition and clairvoyance. Jon runs Total Health Secrets, a premier source of alternative health and nutrition information and products, specializing in herbal cleansing and detoxification programs. He has synthesized his research into a simple system which is easy to understand and apply, utilizing the knowledge and techniques of naturopathic medicine, natural hygiene, food combining, cleansing, visualization, breathwork, and aeorbic exercise. For more information about Jon, see his website at www.thefirewithin.com. GUIDELINES FOR THE POTLUCK: We request that EACH person bring a dish to serve about eight to ten people (if there are two of you, bring enough to serve 16 to 20). With a dish there is a $3.00 donation. Without a dish it is $8.00. No one will be turned away for lack of funds. Money is used to cover our expenses of rent, cups, utensils, plates, phone line, fliers, business cards, etc. (It is ecologically beneficial if you remember to bring your own RECYCLABLE PLATE.) GUIDELINES FOR FOOD are: raw, organic (at least pesticide/herbicide-free), vegetarian (vegan -- no animal products). Please make sure everything is well washed. Nothing cooked, steamed, baked or otherwise heated above 110 degrees (no maple syrup as it is boiled; no tofu; no chocolate). If in doubt, leave it out. We ask that you clearly label your dish at the potluck if it contains HONEY (raw, unheated honey) because some vegans do not eat honey as it is considered an animal product. Dried fruit (dates, apricots, figs, etc.) blended with a little water makes an excellent sweetener for recipes. Check out www.living-foods.com for recipes if you haven't taken any raw food preparation classes yet. DIRECTIONS (Note that there are other ways to get to 1300 Grand Street.
