Guest guest
Greetings from Japan! I recently moved into a new place here and set out to find some bedding. As I was perusing the selection of comforters, I realized I've never thought about the production of down comforters. Are the birds harmed in production? I didn't want to guess wrongly so I decided on a synthetic comforter. More details on down comforters (and pillows, for that matter) would be appreciated! Thanks in advance, Andrea ===== ______ andrea kowalski | teacher, kubasaki hs department of defense | okinawa, japan jaigopalkaur | 090.9560.1882 New DSL Internet Access from SBC & http://sbc. Guest guest
Hi Andrea, Birds are definitely harmed in obtaining the down. Guest guest
From lauren (info) at Viva: When Viva! did our research and investigations of the duck factory farming industry we found that the largest killer of Pekin ducks owns 2 feather & down companies. (Maple Leaf Farms in Indiana which has a few farms in Southern California). Since feathers used for down products come from factory farmed ducks whom we know are treated cruelly - down should be seen as harming them. To learn about how they are treated please see: http://www.vivausa.org/Campaigns/Ducks/ducks.htm Video: Ducks Out of Water http://www.vivausa.org/Video/video.htm Part of report that discusses Maple Leaf Farms: http://www.vivausa.org/Campaigns/Ducks/Viva!USADuckReport3.htm#PART%20SIX - " Andrea " <jaigopalkaur Wednesday, September 25, 2002 2:37 AM [sFBAVeg] down comforters > Greetings from Japan! > > I recently moved into a new place here and set out to > find some bedding.
