Restaurant Update

Hi all,

 

First, thanks for all of the restaurant suggestions

last week when I was figuring out where to take the

omni's from work!

 

After all my work, the guy who was paying decided on a

restaurant of his own choosing. We did call ahead

though, and the hostess said she would inform the chef

and waitstaff that vegans were coming.

 

We ended up going to Bacar, on Brannan between 3rd and

4th. We had such an amazing meal! We had a salad to

start, of organic baby field greens with fresh figs in

a balsamic vinagrette. For our main course, the two

of us were served a HUGE platter of roasted veggies,

mixed wild mushrooms and israeli couscous cooked

risotto style. They also gave us a plate of heirloom

tomatoes (3 kinds) on a bed of arugula and topped with

pureed basil and olive oil. We could have had

dessert--they had two exotic sorbets--but we were too

full and had to take home a big to-go bag.

 

For vegetarians, they always have two veggie dishes on

the menu. I highly recommend dining here if you call

ahead and have some money to burn (too rich for us if

it wasn't free!). Great place to take omnis, family

and the like who aren't willing to eat at veggie

restaurants.
