Prime Minister Vajpayee of India is a (recovered) vegetarian and the

news excerpt tells the story (tho' I'm not sure about the moral of the

story :-))

Vajpayee's trip gets foodie edge

For some reason, ever since Atal Bihari Vajpayee became Prime

Minister, his trips abroad have always included a gastronomic

component. The current visit has been no exception.

But the final foodie edge to Vajpayee's Copenhagen trip was provided

by a group of 60 Pakistan demonstrators who gathered outside the

Danish Prime Minister's office to heckle Vajpayee. Clearly, their

protests were not aired at Danes they chanted in Urdu with the odd

smattering of English.

 

But it was their slogan that took the Indian delegation by surprise.

 

" Vegetarian killer, vegetarian killer, vegetarian killer, " they kept

chanting. Even by the standards of sub-continental discourse, this was

an all-time first: a gastronomic abuse.
