Guest guest
Does anyone have a direct address to donate to help the farmer's legal COSTS? Oct 21 (Mon) 7pm Farmers rights trampled by Monsanto Corporation Sonoma Come hear farmer Percy Schmeiser tell his David and Goliath story. Percy Schmeiser is a Saskatchewan farmer, natural seed breeder, and former mayor of his town. His canola crop has been cross-contaminated by genetically engineered (GE) crops developed and patented by Monsanto Corporation. This genetic pollution destroyed Schmeiser's life work and livelihood of 50 years of natural seed breeding. Monsanto demanded that Schmeiser pay them for the use of their patented genetics in spite of the fact that Schmeiser did not plant their seed, nor want their GE genetics. He has spent his life savings and mortgaged his house to fight the legal battle for farmer's rights. Support the struggle against genetically engineered crops. Sliding scale fee $10 to $100. All proceeds go towards Percy Schmeiser's legal fees. Location: The Commons, Sonoma State University. Info: Renata Brillinger, 707-874-1557 ext.222. Sponsored by Greenpeace, Center for Food Safety, Pesticide Action Network, Organic Consumer Association, Hutchins School, Occidental Arts & Ecology Center, and Californians for GE-Free Agriculture.
