Guest guest Posted October 22, 2002 Report Share Posted October 22, 2002 Today on sfgate: Irradiated food gets thumbs-up from USDA Tropical fruits likely first in line to get zapped Mangoes from Brazil, papayas from the Philippines, and all imported fruits and vegetables that might carry fruit flies can now be irradiated for sale in U.S. markets. The U.S. Department of Agriculture issued the new rule allowing irradiation on Friday. It will be published in the Federal Register on Wednesday.
