Guest guest
Hi everyone, Thanks to all of you who attended our Comfort Foods class. 33 attendees contributed to making it a wonderful and high-energy class. We had such a great time, and we were all quite full by the end! To those of you who weren't able to attend, please contact me at colleen to get your hands on the yummy recipes. Our November cooking class -- called Fabulous Feasting: Thanksgiving for the Birds -- will feature a cornucopia of delicious dishes that will impress friends and family members alike while showing reverence to the 300 million turkeys slaughtered each year (45 million of which are killed for Thanksgiving alone). At a time when war is looming and violence dominates the headlines, I am reminded of the words of Isaac Bashevis Singer: " As long as people will shed the blood of innocent creatures there can be no peace, no liberty, no harmony between people. Slaughter and justice cannot dwell together. " Join us for what will most certainly be a special class, as we cook and share: a.. Harvest-Stuffed Acorn Squash b.. Sensational Stuffing c.. Holiday Cranberry Relish d.. Golden Gravy e.. Pumpkin Pie (with Carmelized Pecans) SPECIAL NOTE: It is not even a week since October's class, and I already have TWELVE sign-ups, and the limit is 34. So I encourage you to SIGN UP EARLY! WHEN: Saturday, November 16th -- 10:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. WHERE: First Unitarian Church of Oakland, 685 14th St. at Castro. Directions: http://www.uuoakland.org/directions.htm COST: $25 (please note change back to our original cost) HOW TO SIGN UP: You may sign up by contacting me directly at 510-914-7131 or at colleen. Once you let me know that you would like to attend, I will give you instructions on where to mail the check. PLEASE NOTE: Because of the logistics involved, you are considered a TENTATIVE sign-up until I receive your check. When I receive it, I will send you a confirmation via email. Also, please try to sign up sooner rather than later. Last-minute sign-ups (though sometimes inevitable) are discouraged. We just love reading all of your wonderful comments. Here are just a few (believe me -- there are more!) of the enthusiastic responses from October's class: " Such an enriching course! I am so glad I came; I had such a good time. The food was excellent to sublime and the repartee engrossing and utterly informative. Thanks! " " Thank you so much! These recipes were absolutely delicious! I can't imagine missing meat or dairy eating like this. These dishes were not just yummy for vegan food -- they're just flat out yummy! I'm so glad I found out about these classes! " " The cooking class was awesome! It was very informative, and I loved the recipes. " " This class was great and the dishes were really easy enough that I feel like I could prepare them on my own. " " These dishes were yummy! Thank you. You are wonderful teachers. " " Fantastic afternoon! So delighted to meet you! " " Another great class!
