Well, it seems that the owner of the new Vegetarian restaurant (on 6th

Street in SF) reads the SFBA-Veg list. :-)

I'm glad that they're listening, and I'll be heading back in the next week

or so to give them another try.

Haveli restaurant

Dear Kim,

mY NAME IS kAUSHIK dattani and am owner of the restaurant.

Iread your reiview and wanted to write to thank you for bringing some of our

shortcomings to my notice.

We have been open for 6 weeks and we have a small # of vegans as reular

customers. We know them by now and it is a practice in my eatablishment to serve

them Roti without ghee and we keep the dessert item for them separately without

dairy product. And they don;t mind if the texture of Halwa is a little dry.

Please do visit us again and identify yourself as a vegan and you will see the

difference.

After reading your review Irelized that we do not have any signs out there to

publicize our vegan friendly services.Iwill put a sign up tomorrow for new

visitors.Thank you once again.

I tried the food this afternoon. It was great .....

since i have been eating the same type of food since

I was young I took on of my co-workers ( he is not a

vegeitarian or vegan ) to try the food. He liked it a

lot and enjoyed the Roti's. I talked to the owner and

he has a note to for vegans to identify so that they

can serve accordingly. I have recommened him to put a

big sign seprately so that no vegans can miss the

sign. I would recommend to give it a try ...... I

think the owners are very helpful and if you have

special request they do accomodate it .... They are

usually not open on Saturdays but this Saturday being

and Indian Festival they are open and have some good

desserts and snacks.
