Guest guest
Hi Veggie Friends, I wanted to update you on a couple of exciting future EarthSave events. I hope you can all be there. Well, maybe not all, as there is only room for about 60 at our potlucks and 100 at our 6th Annual Holiday Benefit Bash. Nevertheless, here is a quick overview: THIS Wednesday, November 6th: EarthSave Team Meeting Sunday, November 24th: Turkey-Free Thanksgiving Potluck and Cooking Demo Wednesday, December 4th: EarthSave Team Meeting Saturday, Dember 14th: The 6th Annual Holiday Benefit Bash TEAM MEETING: Wednesday, November 6th, 6:30 Fresh Choice, Corte Madera With many exciting events approaching, team meetings are particularly important, as there are many exciting volunteer opportunities that go along with them. And of course, your participation is crucial to the success of these events. It's also fun to get together with like-minded folks with the intention of helping out an organization that is trying to make a difference in the world on so many levels. If you care to dine at Fresh Choice, arrive at 6:30. If you only want to get down to business, arrive at 7:00. Fresh Choice is located at the Town Center Mall in Corte Madera. If you live south of Corte Madera, Take Hwy. 101 N. (about 10 minutes from the Golden Gate bridge) to the Mt. Tamalpais exit. Go West over the freeway, turn right at the 2nd light. You will pass Safeway on your right, turn right at the first stop sign. Then turn right into the first entrance to the mall, park to your right. Fresh Choice is to the right of the Il Fornio Restaurant. If you are coming from the north, take the Madera exit, bear to the right and turn left into the first entrance. Again, you'll see the Il Fornio Restaurant, Fresh Choice is to the right of it. EARTHSAVE'S TURKEY-FREE THANKSGIVING CELBRATION – Sunday, November 24th beginning at 5:30 Thanksgiving is a special time of year as we really get to shift our focus to the things we are grateful for. One thing I'm always grateful for during Thanksgiving is that there is a place to gather with truly compassionate folks, dine on an abundance of delicious food, in a lovely, cozy setting, in front of a beautiful, warm fireplace, without having to make a concerted effort to ignore the carcus in the middle of the table or explain to anybody why I am choosing not to eat it and where I get my protein from. It also seems to be a time of year when people get really serious about some seriously yummy food. Everybody breaks out their very best potluck dishes, which makes it extra special. In addition to all the fabulous food brought by our guests, back by popular demand, we will have Davy Davidson's famous handi-pies for your dining pleasure. They were such a great addition to our spread last year. By the way, the Handi-pies are now available at many Whole Foods. If you can't find them at your local Health Food Store, ask them to carry them. And if that's not enough, we will also have Alex Berry founder of Sparks Vegan Restaurant in Sonoma County showing us clever ways to impress our friends and family with totally vegan Thanksgiving cuisine. Alex is a very dedicated advocate of helping people choose a plant-based diet. In addition to running her own restaurant, she has also taught classes at IET, a nutrition and culinary arts school in Cotati. Who's up for a couple of games of Boggle or Cranium? To give it that real family feel, if time permits, and there is a enough interest, board games maybe included on the agenda. LOCATION: The event is held at the Unitarian Church in San Rafael at 240 Channing Way. DIRECTIONS: Take Hwy. 101 to Freitas Pkwy. (15 minutes north of the Golden Gate Bridge/5 minutes north of the Richmond/San Rafael Bridge). If northbound, exit to your right, bear to your right then take an immediate left onto the frontage road, Redwood Hwy. If southbound, turn left, go over the freeway and turn left before entering the freeway again. Then get onto the frontage road. Either way, once on the frontage road, turn right at the first light onto Professional Center Pkwy. At the top of the hill, turn right on Channing Way. It's at the end on the left. TIMES: Mingling is from 5:30 to 6:15. Dining begins at 6:15 and Presentations begin at 7:15. We typically meet on the fourth Sunday of the month and almost always have a speaker. COST: $2.00 members/$5.00 non-members. We invite and encourage you to support EarthSave by becoming a member. Join the day of the potluck, get in for free and recieve an audio tape of the fabulous book, The Food Revolution written by John Robbins. Donations are also accepted for the event. THE 6th ANNUAL HOLIDAY BENEFIT BASH! Saturday, December 14, 5:30 pm What a great event this has been! Going on our 6th year, it just gets better each time. Of course, how can you go wrong when the most decadent, gourmet vegan restuarant is catering it. Millenium Restaurant rocks and so will the live band this year. Playing danceable rock hits from Sly and the Family Stone to the Rolling Stones, from the Beatles to Bowie, from Talking Heads to Motown. Yes, it will be lively but also very elegant. So be prepared to have some fun and kick up your high heels in your very finest apparel. This year, in order to raise money for EarthSave, we will have a raffle that will include some wonderful prizes. Participate and win! LOCATION: The warm and wonderful Muir Beach Community Center. Directions will be included in a later e-mail. COST: For advanced reservations the cost is $35 for members/$40 for non-members. Add $5.00 at the door. Join EarthSave and start saving right away while supporting a good cause. We do accept visa and mastercard. RSVP by December 7th.
