The show also highlights the parallels between the objectification, exploitation and abuse of women and non-human animals in contemporary society, from their role in pornographic media to the animal testing and slaughterhouse industries. Guest guest
Those who are thinking of attending tonight's slideshow might want to consider my impressions of a similar presentation by Feminists for Animal Rights at a World Vegetarian Day some years ago. It was the first time I heard the term " ecofeminism. " Although the program promised to show a connection between feminism and animal rights, the actual slideshow had little to do with either one. Mostly, it was an exercise in male bashing and the spreading of hate. It is exactly this hateful extremism that has made so many women today loath to call themselves feminists. I find it particularly disappointing that the new Animal Rights Direct Action Coalition (ARDAC) has aligned itself with this kind of hate mongering. Male bashing will not save one more animal's life or solve even one of the problems that many women face every day. It will, however, serve to alienate more and more of those who could become our allies. Hate is not a progressive movement. Please don't support this program.
