Guest guest
Hi all, Mat's original post about organizing a singles event, and offer to host a planning meeting at his place, did *not* mention any age limits. It was this second (anonymous) " veggie_singles " person who posted that remark. While I respect that this individual has a right to his/her privacy, I thought it odd that s/he expected others to provide their name, age, gender & possibly occupation while being totally anonymous. Ultimately, how the event turns out will be based upon those who are willing to volunteer their time to organize it.... So please -- all this back and forth about what is right, what is not -- while that information is helpful, it's not really constructive unless you're actually willing to DO something. So who replied to Mat and said they'd help? I did! I think having a SFBAVeg singles party would be fun! Also, please, if you're replying to a note from the Digest, please put an appropriate " subject " in your email so folks can see what you're writing on. I hope all the back and forth didn't turn poor Mat off and make him sorry he even brought it up! :-) I'm 45 and proud of it, and looking forward to events! I'd love to go xc skiing with a group of all ages, for instance. I'm just scared to death of driving in snow is all! Yikes! Lori
Guest guest
Thank you, Tammy, for these words of wisdom. I also would like to reiterate that I hope whatever event/s we come up with will be as all-inclusive as possible. I personally encourage people of all ages (and sizes, ethnicities, political affiliations, whatever) to participate in the planning. I also need to emphasize here that I posted originally not because I want to be the leader of this planning group, but only because I wanted to get the ball rolling. All attendants at the planning meeting will of course be considered equal participants. I also very much appreciate the efforts of veggie_singles, who is doing us a great service by gathering demographic information about people and their interests so that we can better understand who is interested and therefore what kind of event/s might be appropriate. I look forward to our collaboration. This idea has generated a lot of energy (and some controversy), and everyone's contribution is valuable. I only hope that we can realize some of the potential I believe exists here without losing sight of the point: which is for people (well, veg*n singles, mainly, but NOT exclusively) of like mind, values, and lifestyle to meet in a comfortable setting. Personally, I don't care how old or young or middle-aged or elderly you are. Come one, come all! Sincerely, Mat. -- --------- Forwarded Message --------- DATE: Mon, 11 Nov 2002 20:09:25 " Tammy " <govegan " SF-Be-A-Veg " Hi all, Mat's original post about organizing a singles event, and offer to host a planning meeting at his place, did *not* mention any age limits.
