Guest guest
Hi Susan! Welcome to the list! If you want to see lots of good vegetarian recipes, I got a couple suggestions: try going to www.vegweb.com They have lots of vegan recipes. Or even better, try www.planetveggie.com They have LOTS of info on all aspects of vegetarianism, recipes, natural health, etc. as well as an online natural food store. I always go there to get some advice on practically anything. Good luck! Marilou Susan Cara wrote: > Hi! I'm new to this list and just wanted to > introduce myself. Guest guest
I can tell you that the Vegan Society has a book called the Vegan Shopper, which is a very good guide to vegan products. Vegetarian cheese contains cows' milk, although no rennet, so obviously is not vegan, but vegan cheese is made from soya or rice and contains no animal products. Cheezly or Scheese are good hard vegan cheeses, and if you want a vegan cheese spread there is Fromsoya or Tofutti's Better than Cream Cheese, these come in several flavours. Pizza Express can do the Giardiniera pizza without the cheese, but you have to like vegetables such as mushroom, peppers, leek and peas to like that one, and beware of Pizza Hut as their pizza bases are not vegan. I'm not sure about Dominos, they never replied to my email when I asked if their bases were vegan. You will be probably better off making your own pizza if you have time. Lesley Black Velvet Magazine [shari]06 June 2002 18:57 Subject: New to the list Hi all, I'm new to the list. I have a couple of questions. I've been vegetarian for 13 years but so far haven't become a full vegan. Basically I'm a very fussy eater and the one thing I really like to eat is cheese and cheese pizza. I'm in England. Is there a good vegan cheese I can get or vegan cheese pizza (I don't like anything like mushrooms or anything else on it, has to be plain cheese & tomato). Is there a difference between the vegetarian cheese you can buy and actual vegan cheese? Also margarine. I have vegetarian cheese and also vegetarian margarine. Would I have to stop eating those if I was to become a full vegan? Is there a pizza restaurant (in the sort of Dominos, Pizza Hut, Sbarro chain type) that serves a vegan pizza? And is there one that a store like Safeway or Tesco sells? Also, which is the best vegan food guide book to get? Sorry if the questions are a bit crap but it's probably time I became vegan and I'm just looking for a few tips. It wouldn't be so bad if I wasn't so fussy at eating but most food I don't like! <3Shari Black VelvetBlack Velvet Fanzinewww.blackvelvetmagazine.comUK's Glossiest Independent Glam Punk Pop Rock Music MagTo send an email to -

Guest guest
Thanks everyone for the welcome and answering of questions! Yes Jo, I was (and still am, I think) on the RockNetworld list. :-) I actually discovered that Safeway's website has a vegan list, which is quite helpful (although it's 3 years out of date) - although most of the food on it I don't actually like... great! lol. Why can't *someone* (anyone!) produce a vegan cheese & tomato pizza? Can someone tell me what flavours of crisp we can and can't eat? I notice Walkers Chicken say suitable for vegetarians. Are they vegan or just vegetarian? I did notice that they cheese & branston has rennet in. <3Shari Black VelvetBlack Velvet Fanzinewww.blackvelvetmagazine.com - EBbrewpunx Sunday, June 09, 2002 10:05 PM Re: New to the list welome and salutations sharias fer cheese..i can't help ya much..i bloody well hate cheese and all things like..i can tell ya that there is a world of diffrence between vegan and veggie cheeses..you have to watch fer casien, which is in a lot of veggie cheesesm, and also fer rennet..as fer stores, got me..i'm not in angleland,,,,stay away from the fast food pizzas, they often have meat stoock in the sauces...good luck!! you can do it!just be informed, ask questions, and don't get frustrated!!i'm sure a bunch of the limeys on this list will give ya good advicecheersfraggle To send an email to -
Guest guest
Walkers Beef and Onion, Salt and Vinegar, Ready Salted and Prawn Cocktail are all vegan, and many others are vegetarian but contain lactose as is the case with the chicken flavour. Guest guest
B " H Actually, Besides Tofutti (in which the " cheeses " have hydrogenated vegetable junk -- er, shortening), another Kosher Company (I think it's called Old Jerusalem) used to have a vegan cheese pizza with vegan mozzarella and vegan cheddar. They also have a vegan non-cheese pizza with chummus and veggies (like peppers). Debbie > like... great! lol. Guest guest
Amy's uses real cheese unfortunately. They avoid all meat and eggs, but have no interest in avoiding dairy. Many months back, there was a small vegan effort to get Amy's to take the honey out of their roasted vegetable pizza... and they did! Now agave nectar I believe and it is TASTY!!!!!!!!! One friend who had just went vegan thought it loked disgusting and after denying it twice he finally tried a little, and now he buys them whever he can. ...delicious ;b - <EBbrewpunx Wednesday, June 12, 2002 2:33 PM RE: Re: New to the list > i've seen em > i think amy's does, tho, they might only be available here in the states > i know the local shops have several vegan pizzas available > and, there are several resturants which makie vegan cheese pizza here in da bay area, lanesplitter(which makes a killer calzone) and pizza rustica > alas, i am trying to move away from such fare....eat a little less processed food... > we shall see how well i do! > cheers > fraggle > > > " quercusrobur2002 " <grahamburnett wrote: > > > > >> like... great! lol. Guest guest
Hello All! I just thought I would introduce myself since I just joined the list. My name is Vivian Manganello and I live in San Jose California. I have been a vegetarian for over 10 years and a vegan for almost a year. I decided to go vegan after hearing all the wonderful talks at the Bay Area Veg Fair last year. I am married and my husband is also a vegan he had been vegetarian for about 12 years and we decided to go vegan together as a result of the veg fair. I look forward to meeting you on the list and will hopefully be able to host a veg event soon. I love to cook and am constantly trying new vegan recipes.
